I think we all feel your pain.  Thank God for summer fishing.  I've seen the initials "mff" used on this board before but for the life of me I don't know what they stand for.  Anyone? ???

...I want some slammer tipups and 18 inches of ice!!!

Yeah, 18" would be nice...wouldn't take so long to drill through  ;) ;D  Depending on location, we'll have ice to the end or our general season at the end of March...then there is the north that is open a month longer...about 4 hours drive gets you into some nice walleye, pike, burbot, etc...trout is open year round about here and Ontario stays open although there are species limitations.

I intend to be ice fishing into April and have the boat in by the end of April.

Ice fishing around here (SouthEastern NY) is usually finished by last week, but, WHOOOO!!  we've stilll got a good 12 -15 inches of ice around here, and as I write there's a huge storm laying down 12-15 inches of new snow!!
I'm guessing we've got at least two more weeks of good ice ahead of us (maybe more).  I'm surprised to hear that your season is over in Montana.

Well, I'm still popin holes all this week, hopefully next week too! I went out and checked ice last night and I've still got 30 plus inches! Hope I can find some potbellied perch the next week or so. I really feel sorry for all of you that actually have seasons on your fishing, all year round here for everything except paddlefish!!!!!

last bit of ice should be off the lakes after tonites thunderstorms here in SE Wisconsin. Unloaded my truck for the first time since x-mas - a very sad day.
