Welcome to the club wolverine-iceman, you're going to love it here. Friendly place, lots of great tips and advice. We've probably fished some of the same water, I'm from lower Michigan but fish the northern half quite a bit. Hope to share some stories sometime.

Where at in N MI? are ya a yooper,eh? My family is from Cadillac and Manistee but I like to bird hunt too much when I cant ice fish. So I moved to NW IA for now. Do all my bird hunting in SD though. Welcome aboard and Go Blue.

 Happy turkey day,and thanks for the welcome aboard.I`m outside  traverse city,michigan.I cut my teeth on Torch,Elk,Crystal,and Higgins beign tops.As you can see my preferance is deep and cold .They contain lakers,browns and bows.Plan on beign more mobile this year and pursue the tasty perch. These bodies also contain large #`s of smelt,so competing with that forage can at times be frustating.But as everyone knows when the plan comes together,SWEET!Have a real fine day.

Hey wolverine-iceman:
You don't have to just compete with smelt, they sure are sweet to eat. We have a lot of fun catching them on Higgins. I live on Houghton on the North Shore. We also fish Houghton for panfish walleye and Pike.

  Mike,sure 300-400 smelt is not uncom`n.Saw your post on the mi site,and past on some info.Any time you need a partner be sure to give me a yell.higgy or houghton.I`m game!
