Slowest fishing in years
« on: Dec 28, 2011, 08:50 PM »
Measured with a tape 50 holes averaged 10 inches of ice South of Fremont bay
23rd  no fish no flags 4 hours temp 4 low 12 high
26th  2 of us 12 lines, 5 flags and 3 big perch 19 hours temp -12 low 18 high
27th    me/myself/ 6 lines 5 perch 2 walleyes  18 flags  temp -4 low 22 high
28th me again 2 walleyes 6 flags. 19 hours temp 14 low 37 high
So 8 very nice perch and 4 16 inch walleyes
I also have 2 other friends that have fished the last 3 days with no fish and they have moved all over.

I'm hoping the fish are basketball fans, and have been on a hunger strike since the lockout. Now with games running, lets wake up fish! GRRRR

I agree. I have been out twice this year and have yet to catch a walleye. I have heard that north has been better fishing.

I honestly think it might be like this all over the state. Early ice isn't how it should be! Had real slow fishing over here on the Gorge too.

I believe the fish are suffering from a common disease   called lock-jaw.   This can only be  overcome with lots of time, an o-well approach and a great hut party with lots of good food.
In reality I think there is lots of food and they just are not that hungry.

I have had the best start to an icefishing season that I have had in several years.  I must be holding my mouth right.   ;)    I haven't caught a ton of fish, but what I have caught have been very nice.   It's new years weekend and all the weekenders will be out tearing it up.   Lets see how the fish count goes after the weekend.

The Walleye fishing has been unreal, I must be getting a turn in luck.

I'm with you, I've only pulled a few big ones out this year. The majority of the eyes has been around 2 pds, which in my book is "Perfect"
