Ice thicknesses?
« on: Jan 01, 2018, 10:13 AM »
No, not asking for ice reports because I'm too lazy to check myself. Just curious on ice thicknesses all over the country. Don't even have to get as specific as a particular lake. State will do. I'll be checking one of my ponds today but have no doubt I'm making ice at the rate of an inch a day at single digit to below zero temps on a daily basis.

Three or four inches of snow on the ice may slow it down but probably not much.
I live in the midwest now but have fond memories of fishing in New England as a kid.

Idaho 8 inches.

That's the last lake I visited.  Idaho is a big state, some lakes have more ice, some have open water.

Maybe an inch in spots. Wind has kept snow off the ice.

I got a couple of trays in the freezer, about an inch thick.

It's too damn cold here in Vermont to go outside and check the ice ;D. I got ice in my hot water line going to my bathroom sink and that is WITH heat tape. :o
