So it goes that if you don't have a problem looking at small thin lines of high clarity then the LX5 is the one. No BS.  ;D

I own both and while the showdown 5.6 is a very good unit, I prefer the LX5 over it.  They say the showdown does not have LCD delay, but it does even with the ICE (heat) function on.  The delay is really not that bad but it is just not as responsive as the LX5.  I actually end up using the showdown quite a bit since I often take my 8 year old Daughter out with me.  I bought the showdown for her, but she prefers the LX5 too....

Before I buy my LX5 I was a bit worried that I would have a hard time to understand how a flasher works or how to setup it up. And I thought I would be better off buying an LCD type sonar. Well I think I did the right choose, it doesn't take much time to start to fish and get the first felling of owning a flasher. I can see a fish going for my lure, know how deep the bottom is and I used the zoom with no difficulty. I still have more thing to learn but it wasn't hard to get the basic.

... and guess what?!!! you don't need a dual beam in less than 50' of water, the single wide angle beam is more than plenty for less than 50".

Why must you always seem so argumentative in most of your posts?? Just because something isn't useful to you and your type of fishing does not mean that it's unuseful to everyone.... or most people for that matter. I absolutely love my dual beam and I rarely fish over 18' of waterand have never ice fished in over 30' of water.
