Non forest preserve lakes and ponds
«

Hey everyone, I am in the Riverside/Brookfield area and am always wondering about retention ponds and such and if anyone ice fishes these. Is ice fishing even allowed on these? Does anyone fish near the Riverside/Brookfield/Lagrange area?
Thanks,
Ed

The best thing to do is go and try. A lot of lakes will put up no ice fishing or keep off ice signs unfortunately. I found that out this year when I went to go hop onto some of my warm water spots. There's 4 neighborhood ponds near work and they are all off limits for ice fishing unfortunately. It might be worth an afternoon of driving around just to scout spots. Open up google earth or maps in satellite view and start searching around for these types of places. Good luck!
