Shabbona Lake Ice update

Ice update...Today 99 percent of the lake is covered with the geese trying to keep open a couple of holes. I do not have a thickness report. Hopefully tomorrow. Shabbona Lakeside Bait Tackle and Ice Equipmnet Rental will open this Friday Dec 29th for the season 8am to 2pm seven days a week. Park hours are 8am to 5pm seven days a week. REMINDER DO NOT ENTER PARK BEFORE POSTED HOURS. IDNR POLICE WILL WRITE TICKETS.

Lake appears to be 100 percent frozen. We checked the ice thickness about 100 feet from the boat launch and found 7" of ice. There is currently one guy fishing on the bridge and a few guys fishing the southwest bay. Ice can vary wildly. No ice is safe ice. Always check ice thickness for yourself. Shabbona Lakeside Bait Tackle and Ice Equipment Rental will be open starting Friday 7 days a week 8am to 2 pm. Park hours are 8 am to 5 pm seven days a week. DO NOT ENTER THE PARK BEFORE 8 AM YOU WILL BE TICKETED.
