Emerald Shiners (eastern silvery)
« on: Jan 15, 2020, 08:23 PM »
Good evening all. I was wondering if anyone knows of a bait shop that carries emerald (eastern silver) shiners?  I'm striking out. Preferably along my route to moosehead from MA.

Thanks!!!

If you're going through Bangor Burns Bait on Birch St. if you're going through Newport there are a couple of places in Dexter You might want smelts for Moosehead.

Thank you guys.  Unfortunately Bangor is out of the way but I can check in Dexter.
I did check Sebago Bait and they haven't received any.

The search continues.

I have used smelt and traditional Arkansas shiners with mixed results. Trying something a little different.

I am not sure where you are traveling through, however, you may want to check with Misty Morning Bait Shop in Dover Foxcroft. They usually carry a variety of shiners.

If you’re coming from mass you’ll be getting off the 95 in Newport and heading north through dexter. You may try the Moosehead trail trading post RIGHT where you get off in Newport. Then when you get into Dexter is Toots variety...they have bait. Then as your leaving Dexter right beside wasookeag like is a bait shop....maybe called Rt. 23 bait? All are worth a stop
Killin time til swimbait season..
