Got some painting done yesterday and made some rod storage racks for the walls.



Also made a list today af all the things I need to buy at the hardware store.

All I can say is wow nice shack.   Do you have sides that come down or is it a cloth?

Cloth sides.

Removed them to paint.
and
Closed it's 5x7.
Open it's 15x7.
I think it will seat 12.

Each side sets up in about a 1 min. This thing is totaly portably. All the equipment is inside. As fast as I can get it of the trailer I will be on the ICE. Someone else will have to drive the 4wheeler to get the rest of the crew while I'm fishing.

Trust me. This was a a year and a half in the making. Plan it out. This is my second roof. The first one rooted out under the tarps I was triiny to keep it from doing. This was not an easy build.

And seeing how it is only 6inches off the ground I am goingto go to the hardware store to buy the rest of the componets to to put a hydralic ski lift system on it.

Wait till you see it.

Well I've noticed over the summer that the roof wasn't holding up to the elements that well. Even with caulk in the seam and four coats of paint  the roof was startin to weather.


So today was all about a more weather resistant roof.
Drip edge.

Then roof.

That should do the job.
Also got the rod storage mounted.

She's coming along.

Try a rubber roofing material called Sarnafil. Works great if you don't want the corrugated cover.

I looked at all the products and this is what I wanted. Light, easy to work with, cheap. Hole job took 20 minutes.

Any ideas on how much your shack is weighing in at?

Also will it be pulled on ski's/slides or wheels?

There are ski's under right now. but I am getting the materials together to put a hydralic system together to raise the shack to 12" for deeper snow.
As far as wieght goes, who knows? The quad tows it around just fine and I put a winch on the trailer for loading.

None of my local friends fish however my wife has manny friends who would like to atleast try ice fishing. So on most occasions I will prabably only be using half the shack. And as is with fishing everyone is always welcome. This thing should come in real handy at Gull Lake this year. Everyone should know with shanty I am in.

In case you guy's don't know this thing is portable. On and off the ice each day. Unless the fishing is real good or I'll be back the next day then I might fold it up and leave it over night.

Dude i wanna roll with you this year, fishead only has a SMALL shanty!   WOuldnt suprise me if he's working on one now the size of his house, just so he has one bigger! lol

OK you guy's probably thought a hydralic lift,ski system was only the stuff off dreams. Well I started mine today. Lift it up, tow it to a spot, set it down. No fish? Lift it and tow it to the next spot. I think I need to buy chains for the quad to tow this thing now.

Okay I have materials now.

and after some cutting I think it;s time to weld

Man I wish I was reading this on someone else's post because this is way to much work(at least I get to benefit from it). After hour of welding and cutting I had to stop. Guess tommorrow I have alot of work ahead of me.

Well I have both the skis done after taking yesterday off from building.

So now just how do I get those skis onto the bottom of the shanty. Well. You just have to suck it up and turn the shanty on end. Been meaning to anyway to paint also. Here you can see the old skis.
