I am lusting after a Cold Snap outdoors cover... their site says the Nils covers are the same as the Clam and Strikemaster only difference is color.

I bought  a strike master red cover for my nils at the ice show that broke the first day on the ice so they replaced it and sent a yellow one.  Same design different color

The 6" Clam fits the Nils 6" pretty good. And the blue color is close.

LOL thought cold snap was a beer... Don't care about the color as long as it stays on..  Used a lot of different augers over the years  and nothing cuts like a nils

If you want to make your own get a short piece, 5 or 6 inchs long, of schedule 40 pipe, glue a cap on it, drill two holes on the open end, and thread a rope through it or put a bungee cord through the one hole, around the bit, and through the other hole.

An 8" schedule 40 cap is $10 more than a cold snap cover.

If my milwaukee fuel setup works well for the whole season in Wisconsin I will definitely be purchasing the snap cover in 7in which is special order.

Agree with the comments on the cold snap.  Best blade guard/cover so far, without question.  Although if you purchase the Strikemaster branded one they call it a "Snap Cap."

I never priced them before so I didn't know that.  He could always put a piece of plywood or 2x4 inside the pipe and screw it in place instead of using the cap.

I figured, I only know because I have a dog that chews my sprinkler valve covers all to hell and in the winter you can't go get a lawn sprinkler cover at menards.  I used a cap to cover the valve...lol

Just got a cold snap for my Nils 6".  MUCH better than the piece of crap they send with the auger!

Much, much, much better!  The one that comes with the auger falls off, requires that your hand be near the blade when taking it on and off, and is garbage.

If you have the head with the power point the cold snap will not work.  FYI
