I saw something on UTube where someone just wrenched the chuck off with the screw in there.  It will break off at the head, then you still have to get it out later.  Maybe you can find the video.

ok. took the clam ext off the assy. ran the assy. no wobble. I have 2 extensions. both wobble. one more than the other.  it's the clam extension that is off.

Just checked the new one I bought.  1/4" wobble at the end of the extension.  Totally unsat.  Will contact Clam.

I investigated a little more and found that the welding between the 2 diameters of tubing was OK and true.  The hole where it attaches to the clam adapter is off.  When I don't put the screw in it runs true.  When I use either the wing nut or the socket head screw I get a tremendous wobble at the end of the extension.  Without the extension my auger runs true.

And Clam says-You always have a drill to use! Not near as easy as they claim.

What rg said is right I just removed mine right bit and impact is way to go.
If fishing is a sport are we considered athletes?

amazing how easy it is with the right tools.
