Black Hills
« on: Jan 30, 2019, 05:39 PM »
I've never been ice fishing in the Black Hills and was wondering where to go and what would be the best approach this time of year?  Will an ATV get around OK or is there too much snow on the Ice?  Not from the area, but I have a couple weeks off.  Also, what are the better bait shops?
Thanks

Sheridan Lake, Deerfield , Stockade, Pactola careful on the ice it has been inconsistent.  Orman/Belle Fourche Reservoir for walleye, careful on the ice here as well.

ATV should be good on the Hills lakes.  They have been all over Sheridan for a month.  I wouldn't drive on Orman/Belle Fourche.  Fished it a couple of weeks ago and was on 12 inches, talked to some other guys that were on 6 so it is pretty variable.  It also has frozen, thawed and refrozen.  A lot of areas with honeycombed ice that has frozen back together.

Thanks for the Info.
Went to Pactola and Sheridan over the weekend.
Had bites on Bass and Northerns.  Wife brought up a few Trout.
Pactola Ice was definitely messy.
