Not having a heat source when I go I am forced to sammichs. Sometimes the ol stand by PB+J or if I feel like busting out of a rut I'll make a ham or turkey sammich maybe some chips.A thermos of coffee, and jerky.

But they're are days when I finally get a chance to go and I am catching fish I will sometimes forget about my wonderful lunch I prepared myself that morning. There is nothing better than chomping into a half frozen PB+J or ham/turkey sammich and trying to wash it down with a slug of coffee. And there are days when the fishing isn't so good in the morning and I eat everything before it freezes only to realize its all gone later in the day and wishing I had one of those half frozen sandwhichs.

So how many of you with the fancy cuisine are traveling on foot with a portable shanty??

We usually just take a thermos of chicken noodle soup, cheese, crackers and venison summer sausage. Couple of Labatts to wash it down.

Geez, if ANY of you guys are ever over in Montana drop me a line. I never eat that good on the ice. Occasionally I'll cook up some ramen if I'm real hungry, otherwise its just Spitz and corn nuts.  I usually bring a stove every trip out, just never get around to firing it up. too bussy catching fish  ;D so yeah, seriously, if you guys come over, you can cook while I catch fish.  ;D ;D ;D :icefish:

i seem to eat better on the ice than i do at home. maybe its the mood, or maybe it is the cold weather knocking on the old belly and letting me know that starving marvin is in town.

If out all day ramen noodles or hot soup, deer jerkey, soda on ice, and a Little Debbie. If only out a few hours then pop tarts, soda, and a Little Debbie for the energy. Those Little Debbie snacks have a shelf life of at least 2,000 years or longer.

:)  last thurs there was the three of us perch fishing on a real quiet back bay. we had our lines set and were catching some fish, the sun was shining, the chili dogs with sliced up onions were set up and crown royals and cokes were served up all around and I thought I had died and went to heaven. Those days don't happen enough no matter how many times it happens.  8) 8)

boy i thought i was hardcore but after reading all these reply:s,it seems it is a catchy thing. food on the ice is great and an essential part of having a great time.if one wants to feel good and have a really good time, it is very very important to be well norished and hydrated. can"t emphasize it enough, important to do so.
