My Sled (work in progress)
« on: Nov 08, 2004, 03:48 PM »

Just going to start and put this together. Any ideas from all you ice nuts? What is it missing? What should I do different? All comments appreciated.

you just might wish that sled was a little deeper, especially when you start pulling it around in deeper snow.....and....doesnt look like you have any room for the blue....that is...unless you drink them before you start off....Grump :roflmao:

If you are braving ice and snow make getting there a little easier
Multi use design is ideal when camping, fishing, hunting and more
High side design holds more
Heavy duty construction for durability
Large carrying capacity
Overall product size approximately 39" x 28" x 9" (97.5 x 70 x 22.5 cm)
Approximate weight 4.5 pounds (2.0 kg)

All my stuff you see in those pics will fit in this, and it's only 34.95. Those jet sleds are like $100.00

Grump you read my mind ;D

Check out the link I sent ya in the email VC....nice lookin' sleds there.  I may as well post the link here in case someone else wants to look into these  http://www.koendersmfg.com/sled.html  Hopefully they'll come back with the name of a retailer in Calgary.

My one comment on that one would be to watch the width.  More width = more snow to push
I fish therefore I AM!

I talked to the guy at koenders and he said their calf sled is $64.95 approx. retail.  Sounds like they may not be stocked in Calgary and would be ordered on an "as needed" basis by the local supply store.

I was just on their website Jamie. Kinda funny you posting it here at the same time. I agree with what you are saying on pulling/pushing snow. I think that one from Crappy tire will do the best for 34.00. And it will hold everything, and it's not to big.

Hey Vancouvercanuk,

Check out the Otter Medium sled.  I have a Jiffy 3HP auger that fits perfectly inside the sled.  It also has a ton of room for everything else.  My 1st sled was a Jet Jr. which we now use to bring out the shanty (Cabela's portable).  Oh yea, I got the Otter at Gander for $84.00.  They have bigger sizes, but this is the largest you would probably want to drag around unless you have a snowmobile or ATV.

These sleds are VERY BEEFY and deep.

My 2cts ;D

I saw one on here last week or so that guy made of wood and was 18 inches wide and 48 inches long with compartments so I made one pretty much like it. Have pulled it around the driveway (concrete) and works fine and plenty of room. I made it of 1x10's, 1x8s and 1/2 inch plywood. Only cost a few bucks to make and looks pretty good so enjoyed making it and will enjoy using it. That is why I like this site as always get lots of good ideas and fun.
Good thing about prisons- they reduce the potential number of fisherman on the ice!
