Third Annual NJ Chapter of Team IceShanty Derby

Derby Date : Feb.24, 2007 (Alternate date : Feb. 25, 2007)

Time : 7:00 AM thru 2:00 PM
Sign In : 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM ( You must sign in to enter an entry and to be in drawings)

Location : Lake Hopatcong .... Dow's Boat Rental
Parking will be available at Dow's as well as bait and supplies.

Eligible : Team IceShanty Members .......... children don't have to be members

Prizes : 1st Place : A gift certificate from Dow's or YOJ's
2nd Place : IceShanty Hat
3rd Place : Ice fishing jigs

If for any reason there are no entries in a category or the places aren't filled I will add those items to a
drawing at the end.

There will be two drawings at the end : 1 HT rod and 1 Pinnacle reel (courtesy of Ramsey Outdoors)
There will be gifts for the kids as well.

Dow's has very generously offered 10% off for all IceShanty members during the derby .. just let them know inside.
Dow's has also offered another gift ... you'll have to show up and see me to recieve !!
They said you can drive down the hill, unload and then park topside. They'll try to keep Curly Sue off of attack mode !

Laurie also said there's always hot coffee inside.

If you have an FRS radio bring it. To make things easier I will bring an FRS radio and have it set on Channel 7. This way you can ask and I can give an up to date category size. This should save everyone a walk to the entry table if the entry is short and also allow for a timely C & R.

Bluegill, Crappie, Perch

Chain Pickerel

Bass :
Largemouth / Hybrid

Walleye

Rules

1 You must be a Team IceShanty member and signed up (sign up closes 2-23-07 at 7:00 PM) .

2 You must have a valid NJ fishing license and follow all regulations.

3 The entry is by length ... not weight or girth. We will follow the online tourney rule of as the fish lays ...
not squeezing the tail.

4 You must bring your entry to the measuring station during the posted derby hours.
The station will be marked with a flagpole flying an IceShanty flag. (There will be a release hole to promote C&R)
I will try to have two of us there (plus entrant) for verification of entries.

5 No garbage is to be left out on the ice or in the parking lots ... if you bring it .. you dispose of it.

6 This will be a walk on derby ... no four wheelers or snowmobiles. Everyone will fish in the area out
from Dow's.

Yea sounds like it's gonna be a nice event once again, I won't be able to fish it but hopefully I can stop by and see everyone.

How far out will consititute "in front of DOWS?" Will it be a sight thing.. Like as long as you can see DOWS or? I need to start studying my map for spots.

More than anything we want everyone to stay safe.

Since other derbys/tourneys are being cancelled there may be a risk the further you go out. If someone goes out of eyesight and gets in trouble it could be disastrous.

ill be doing some cooking out their but i dont think my son and brother inlaw care for venison he wants to do burgers on a skillet and spam and eggs for breakfast im thinking of making venison stew make it friday nite then heat it up out their

hey iceslammer it will be nice to have some ny guys show up you should get iceboy19 to go hes in newcity thats up your way i dont think i can make putnam county this year with this warm up but when we get ice next season we can hook up on west branch or gilead i have a permit

It goes by length not by weight.

And if my math skills are accurate..4 categories and 3 winners in each that comes to 12 total! Did i mention im a whiz at math? lol

Don't forget to bring a brick for each tip-up and an anchor for your sled on Saturday. It's looking like the wind might be a bit blustery. Anyone going to fish the contest on Sunday at Swartzwood? I hope the ice at Dow's when getting on and off is good, otherwise someone needs to throw a plank in their truck.

Ice is okay getting on by Dows. No need for a plank. Check with them inside and they will show you which dock to use. Guys are out in the cove today, and it is very windy!!!
