Perchpounder thanks for posting the crawdad findings.  I have often wondered about that question and have chanced trapping crawfish.  Guess I wont to that anymore even though it was all in the Champlain watershed.  As far as the bait regs go I wouldn't be opposed to paying a small fee and complete a worksheet to get a transport license.  It would pay for itself the first time I got my own bait.  The benefit would be that the licensee would have a good understanding potential risks of moving bait/water from one place to another.   People complain about the fee for a license all the time.  I look at it this way...It cost $26 for a license to fish in the entire state 365 days of the year.  I can't think of $26 going very far for any other hobbies that come to mind.  $26 can't even pay for an hours pay for a warden.  I'm not sure how the state does what they do with the budget the have.
