Just wondering about when the suckers usually start running?
If you watch them very closely, when they begin to put on their tiny sneakers... ;D
April fools!
Seriously though don’t they run in the Fall?
-
They do in the spring but not sure when really? I would think April-may.
-
End of april.

Usually end of April, beginning of may. Depends on water temp. They also tend to run earlier in smaller water bodies and a bit later in big lakes it seems.
-
I remember them running during April vacation almost every year when I was in school
-
Some running in Michigan now

. I think suckers only run in the spring, to spawn

They run in the spring. Tough to keep alive until winter. I trap my suckers in the fall, its a pain but thats the best way to do it.

They run in the spring. We used to spear them by the gunny sack full and smoke them.
They were great smoked, almost as good as the whitefish we netted in the fall.

Thanks for all the input guys, just want to get the kids out there to see it and try and catch a few!!

They definitely won`t keep alive and healthy unless they are living freely in a body of water. We could never keep them well in a box until October .
