Hidden Lake Question
« on: Dec 19, 2015, 09:47 PM »
Hello everyone

I'm getting off work in a few days and really wanting to drill some holes.
Has anyone been out that way yet?  I was courious how the ice is?  I've yet to try for lake trout, but it's on my bucket list this year and I'm determined to figure it out!

Thanks in advance for any reports.
Cheers, Kris

I haven't been out there in years, I preferred to fish the tail-end of the lake not the campground side; but like I said I haven't been out there in years.  Be careful around the outlet, ice is always sketchy there...good luck and let us know how things go

Hidden rarely has safe ice until January or later.
Be careful out there it's a big and dangerous lake.
Several people have gone through and died over the years including last year.
Also remember if your driving out it is snowmachine or highway vehicles only. No ATV's or SxS allowed.
Good luck and post up a report.

Fish deep and off points of land move around every half hour pr so if you dont get a bite use white tube jigs tipped with herring catch kokanee and put there head on a pole or tipup works every time for me

Just drove up from homer and there’s a pretty good melt going on.  I don’t think I’d risk it.  If I were you I’d go north and catch some real fish😀.

Looks like they should be getting some snow today/tomorrow. How much snow is on the lake right now?

Non of the lakes I saw had snow.  Standing water everywhere.  Several days of above freezing temps and 12 inches of ice oh that should be totally safe no problem.  Make sure you drive your truck on the lake with the windows up and wife and kids buckled in.  Don’t worry it’s totally safe.

Wasnt able to make it to hidden since the road was a complete ice rink.  We fished on kenai lake for a little while but didnt get anything.  There was no water on the lake either and was a solid 6" of clear ice.
