Eater Size Lakers Were Feeding
« on: Jan 23, 2020, 06:41 AM »
Went out for my second attempt at some lakers and managed to hook into most lookers eater size of course, friends and family enjoy eating them. I think why I enjoy fishing lakers is for the challenge of locating getting them to bite and lastly the hardest part of all is landing then when they so often tend to come off. How the heck can a fish get off when the sharpest hook punctures right through! Anyways here is video from the trip. Skip to 3 minutes If you want to avoid the explaining. :)

Great video, AJ!  Looks like you guys got into good numbers of fish.  For me, laker fishing has been frustrating recently.   :P

Lol a lot of people love criticizing others hook sets when the same thing happens to you too lol. It’s small fish grabbing the tail of the tube we out a camera down there to see it.

If your having trouble with hooking lakers, add a stinger hook to your main hook. I use a 30 pound piece of line and tie it right too the hooks and keep them about 2.5 inches long.

Thanks for the great tip bud! I like to just use the one hook with the weight it's a bit challenging.

Nice video. about the same size as we catch but not as many as you did. Finicky---yes indeed. That's why I tend to use a slip float. Let them nibble away but set the hook once they swim away with it---still lose quite a few though. I tend to prefer minnows. my bud leans twd white tube jigs.

I'm sure the minnows would kill it! BUT in Colorado we are not allowed to use minnows above 7,000 feet in elevation and all the lake trout lakes are much past that elevation so it's illegal.

D@mned PETA.   >:(   Just because minnows get altitude sickness isn't a good reason to ban them.
