1/25 fishing report
« on: Jan 26, 2009, 07:03 AM »
Fished Sat and Sunday off 219.  Found fish somewhat scattered with but mostly in the 30-40 ft range.  Some nice jumbo perch, a 17 in walleye, and 4 throwback walleyes from 12-14 inches.  Fish came on both tip-ups, gentz worms with gulp maggots (including one of the walleyes), and perch-colored chubby darters.  Had flags trip several times that seemed to be light biting perch.  I'd see them come up to my baits on my aqua-vu, stare at them, and take these little nips, and then wander off.  A couple of guys were set up about 100 yrds away with a green hut. They seemed to be doing about the same as we were. Saw a group of folks downlake that seemed to be doing a lot of moving, starting out in the deep and then moving shallow so I guess they were looking as well.  Tried some holes drilled shallow up to 8-10 feet but no luck. Was hoping for some nice gills.  Surprised there weren't more folks out at McHenry's.  There were a few but usually you see greater numbers.
