The bubblers at Trident are keeping it completely open, way more so than I've seen in the past. I don't know if it's this crappy winter or if they supercharged their system. We accessed further South and found good ice everywhere, from 4-7 inches with a mix of black and white depending on where you were. I have no idea about Sandy Bottom. Fishing was slow - lots of dink perch.

Yea I’d like to know what happened too... I got a feeling it was a “hold my beer and watch this” moment from the bar. Cuz if I’m not mistaken that’s right around log cabin. Ain’t it?  Bar at trident?

I make statements based on my experiences in the location I fished only. Check ice conditions for yourself.

I have a video on my phone from Superbowl Sunday 2 years ago of a guy driving mid lake from one end to the other going about 100mph in a Ford explorer. He beeped and waived got on and off at the marina where the little bar/ restaurant is.
It was pretty awesome, didn't know what the hell that sound was till I opened up the hut and stepped out.

How has the fishing been on Honeoye, I went a few days ago, caught a small Perch over an hour Span and left. Curious as to where to go to on the lake. That was the only time I’ve ever been there.

Two years ago, there was a slaughter there during the spawn back in the reeds in the south shore. I bet that has something to do with it. In a couple trips there this year I have caught a dozen craps and not one of them over 7". Hopefully, there is a good supply of young ones for two years from now.

the same for myself and my friends with 5 to 7 inch calicoes . this ice season (last 2 weeks) together we total 30 or so dinks.  last bunch of spring runs just look at the parking lot, filled up to the road ...me included. Even early summer catches maybe with 3 guys in the boat we were happy with 15 to 20 keepers at best . pressure pressure pressure !!!

And everyone is complaining about the proposed changes to the size and limits.

I don’t think the pressure has increased it’s been that way as long as I can remember.

Not everyone rg...just the predictable few. The comment above doesn't even think there's more pressure these days  ::) Makes you wonder how much time some people even spend fishing or outdoors.

I guess so.
I’ve fished Honeoye for 40 years or so.  There’s good and bad. Take it for what you get. That’s fishing.

Have honeoye a go for crappies fished from 330-730 caught 5 crappie after it got dark.  Nothing marking suspended until it got dark then they moved in.  There was at least one fish on my screen the whole time from 6-730, suspended 3ft off bottom but they weren’t interested.  Every once in awhile a Gish would come through suspended 10-15ft off bottom and those were the fish threat were caught. There still in there just finicky spring bobber is key.

By lantern light?
Just curious. I was out last night also. South end. Had a steady pick of gills from 5pm-9. Fired up the lantern just before dark and the crappie were steady until 9 as well. Probably could’ve kept it going but I had work in the morning. Gills off the bottom, crappie 5 foot below the light.
