arctic armor suit
« on: Dec 09, 2007, 08:39 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has an arctic armor suit and if they had thoughts about it?  I'm thinking about getting myself a Christmas present and would like some feedback before I make the investment.

it is a great suit.  i do own one also, and it is warm.  you will still need to layer up though.  on nice warm days low to mid 30's i just wear the suit and am fine.  on colder days i do wear long thermal underwear.  the suit does fit big, which is for layer your clothing.  i am 5'10 and 205 and i wear XL.  it does fit well.

what do you wear under  the arctic armor.  I tried mine out for the first time tonight and loved it.  But I got  a little sweated up.....what do you wear  to counter this problem?  Is it possible to be to warm on the ice with this clothing?

I bought my set of arctic armor last year and love them! I just wear my underarmor and one light sweatshirt and sweatpants and I'm good for all day down to about zero degrees. If it gets any colder I add one more layer. It's unbelieveable how warm this thin and lightweight suit is!

I use the "Webfoot Body Sock" under my float suit.  Wicks the mosture away and keeps me nice and warm.

thanks for the info ...the suit is so warm that I may never use a ice shanty again!!!  Except on windy days of course.  Everyone who does not have one of these suit you do not know what you are missing.  I admit ya look like Mr. City slicker out there but I have worn out my old carhart' and it was time to upgrade, and for once I had the cash in hand to do it.   ;D

I also went with the Med. I'm 5'9" 180 and it fits a little tight should I also exchange it for a large? I dont want to be swimming in this outfit but I also dont want it to look like tights !!!!!

Thanks

you do not want them too tight. There has been some people recently that have complained about cold spots with Arctic Armor. On another sight I belong to a guy was pretty upset about spending the money for something that did not "work" (who wouldn't be). He took his suit back and the retailer had him put it on and said it was too small and got him one size bigger and he loves it now, no cold spots!

Air is the best insulator. you want it loose enough to have a small air gap but not too big for the wind to blow up ur back or your body having to heat too much air btween u and the suit.

I love my suit, fits well and works well. Best thing is to try it on with ur layers. If u are ordering on line atlest try to try it on somewhere. I'm 5'11, 215 and have a med jacket and large bibs.

I've had my arctic armor on 5 or 6 times this season (it's new this year) and I just love it - the most comfortable I've ever been while out on the ice.  ;D  Like everyone is saying - don't get it fitting snug or you won't like it and it won't perform properly.

just sent my mediums back to get a large. for the money this suit suit costs, I just dont want the elbows and knees blowing out after a couple of seasons. I think I will be happy with this

sounds like they shrunk em this year   mine from last year the coat a med   seemed to be too big   but great to put something else under it   and Im only 175 lbs at 5'8   Med pants were not as big in proportion
