My feet are cold in Mickeys, and the arctic pros.  I have a set of LL Beans pac boot (http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/75920?feat=70645-ppxs&dds=y) for over 25 years, and are just now on their way out.  I was thinking of the Predator Extremes or the Trans Alaska for a change.

I dropped the wool pack boots a few years back and made the switch to Wiggy's Pack Boot.  Have been a huge fan of lamalite insulation since my days at altitude with his sleeping bags.  These are FAR warmer than the LaCrosse and Sorels I've owned/warn out.  Best boot for the money.

Just got my boots today. Glad I ordered a size larger than I usually take.   I can't wait to try them out on the ice.

Baffin apex. I always have cold feet. Bit the bullet and ordered these this year. Havent been on ice yet , but did wear them deer hunting a few times in 8 degree weather . Warm and toasty. They are comfortable , but large .

Cabela's Trans Alaskan III pack boot. Warmer & lighter than mickey's or bunny boots, plus they are breathable & waterproof. I spent plenty of time in all of them stationed in Ft Wainwright, Alaska. I screwed some 3/8" hex head sheet metal screws into the sole for ice traction, and I am convinced I will never find a better ice fishing boot for below freezing conditions. When it is warm like today was I will wear Xtratuf boots like any true Alaskan!

Wont go on the ice without my Sorrels. Wow…must be a lot warmer where you guys are to wear those flimsy boots.

I have a pair of Sorrels that my dad used to use ice fishing before I was born (I am almost 30). He gave them to me when I was 15 and I used them for cleaning out horse stalls in the winter and sleigh riding with my buddies. Then I started using them for ice fishing and have used them for the last six seasons. Now that is a boot. Most footwear I have had lasts a year or two. But these suckers are 30+ years old and they are still in great shape, keep my feet warm and dry and they are super comfortable. If for any reason I have to buy new boots in the near future I will be buying another pair of Sorrels. Perhaps I will end up giving them to my kid some day!

Take good care of those 30 year old sorrels. Those were the bomb. The new ones are not the same boot. The new ones are Chinese junk. The soles came off mine after about 3 trips to the ice. They we're not  warm or comfortable anyway. I bought them when my old sorells wore out and was really disappointed in the lack of quality. Now I am sporting some muck arctic boots. Warm, comfy and dry.

I have had many different boots over the years. The one thing I have come to realize is that no matter what the boot, getting them a size or even two bigger is key to keeping warm. I have logged time with a few guides who spend their winters in some of the harshest temps you would care to be. The common denominator amongst them is keeping their boots big enough to accommodate up to four pairs of socks in sequence, starting with a base layer.

Didn't Muck move their manufacturing offshore too?

I think the next pair I buy will be Baffins.  I already own a set of Baffin Titans and 15 year-old Sorel glaciers with new liners about 4 years ago.  They way the Sorel's are wearing after 15 years... probably won't need new boots for at least another 10 years.
