In the back behind the dorsal fin.  Just don't go too deep or you will hit the spine and have a dead minnow.

I know the size of hook should be matched to the minnow.... but what size to you use most of the time?

I also like to hook mine behind the dorsal....but not "right behind"....

Have had really good luck this year on glow trebles that i found a few years ago and never use. Will get some glow paint if can't find any more. I hook right behind the dorsal fin keeps them alive most of the day unless something hits it hard.

I rarely use trebles as most of the time I release my fish, but the smaller glow trebles are freeking awesome.  Def match the size hook to the bait.  I havnt really been able to find glow trebles since I picked up the couple packs at gander on clearance 2 years ago, but have recently started using the soft glow beads when I am fishing BIG baits and trebles, gives you that added edge at night.  I usually hook through the tail with bigger trebles and through the back with smaller ones.

Good luck.

I'm using #12 as recommended to me, I was concern avoiding the spine. I generally hook up at the dorsal...
