4 cylinder, 2.7 liter toyota engine...
live 1.25 miles from my favorite ice fishing lake....

I pay more driving 25 miles to work and 25 miles home 5 days a week.  Maybe I should fish full time this winter and work part time?

We always go to Texas for December but how long we are there is determined by the ice reports back home. One year had early and quick freeze up here in WI so were in Austin for 1 week. Other times we spend a month there but absolutely must get home for ice even if gas is $7 like in Scotland.
Good thing about prisons- they reduce the potential number of fisherman on the ice!

For me, higher gas prices means more fishing.  Years past, i would split my time between fishing and snowmobiling.  This year, i'm considering selling the sleds and fishing on the weekends.  Between towing the sleds around, fuel for the sleds, oil, etc, etc, it's just getting too expensive.  And beside, my poor old body can't take the bumps anymore.  It's tough getting old! :'(

Gas is still cheaper by the litre than bottled water or soda here in Canada!!!!  Beer is cheaper than all of them.  I guess that my worst vices(ice fishing & wobblies)will not be affected to any great degree.
