Title: Lake Medora Copper Harbor area
Post by: Captsteveo on Jan 11, 2018, 04:47 AM
I am hoping to give this lake a try next week. Any information or help on where to start would be appreciated. A friend has purchased a home on the lake and would like to ice fish this year.

Use caution and a spud, the ice varies on that lake.  I haven't fished it since they started to turn it back into a trout lake but around the islands has been good in the past.

Slush will probably be a problem on Medora right now. Lots of snow pushes the ice down. You may want to use snowshoes. There are a couple of reefs that come up from 20'+ to around 6' out from the islands. I can't tell you exactly how far but I would guess that they are about 1/4 mile out from the middle sized island. I have caught walleye there in the winter. Not many but I haven't really fished there in the winter much.

i purchased one of the detailed map/lake chart manuals an there is a great map of lake medora in there, as are all of the major lakes in the western upper peninsula. (i bought it at the true value in calumet)
