LHSP good for 1/29

I fished Lake Hopatcong from the State Park today with 6-7" of ice. It will be good for Sunday morning before any rain comes. Go out past the south end of the beach after the jetty past the black ice that goes in front of the beach. THE WHITE ICE IS THE GOOD ICE (its been there the longest)! There were about 7 other people out besides me, good luck if you go!

Thats great to hear the ice is good there. I wish i could make it out tomorrow. Lets hope too much rain doesnt kill the shorelines off after tomorrow, and i could hopefully get out during the week.

Some nice pickerel you guys got. Musta been nice to get out on the ice so close to home.

Also glad to see you guys proved all the guys who said there would not be any ice left in NJ this year wrong.

'Safe Ice' is a very relative term used in ice fishing, it is directly related to how many marbles are upstairs

Really great news Webguy.  I had given up on any more icefishing this year, and was regretting only getting two trips out on the ice between Christmas and New Year.  Now with a few cold weeks, maybe can salvage a decent season.

my son fished at the state park yesterday.he did very well with pickerel,perch and
sunnies.i checked the ice when i dropped him off and there was a good 6-7 inches.
he fished from 7til noon and had lots of action.i pulled another huge skunk out in the
boat yesterday.had to break threw the skin ice to get around.

j-f: No problem, I tried to make it REAL CLEAR to him what to look for out there and would have advised him against going if I wasn't confident it was safe. If he asked me today, I'd have to discourage him from going out - its looking ugly.

NJ PIKER: Sorry to say, its not looking good for you this week. If you venture out use extreme caution! Keep in mind it will get cold again before spring.

thanks web,he respects you alot.i went out first and you were right.we talked last
night and he even said that until we get{if we ever get}some cold weather that was his last trip.we had fun breaking threw the ice with the boat.the state police came
out to check us and after the checked everything i asked if they could open us up some water around the place we were fishing last week and they did.great drift but
no fish.i guess i will have ta aquire a task for sunk.

Hey  Webguy,  how did you get on the ice??  Looks like a lot of open water around the edges next to the State Park  .  I can not believe you squeezed one more trip out of this   ha,,ha,,
