Not surprised at all. Not sure where they were but that ice off Contstantia was always through on one whack with the spud when I checked it. Yet there were several people out there. I am glad they are okay.

Did you guys by Oneida get hammered with snow? We got around a foot out by the buffalo area that put a hurting on the ice formations out here. Hope not. That lake needs to firm up for you guys.

Well that shouldn't effect much. I'm dying to make a trip to Oneida. Might be sooner than here. I'm sure chatauqua got pounded with snow. That's my best option by me to catch some walleye. Fingers crossed. Stay safe everyone.

Have you tried army navy stores? Not sure if they are out your way. There is one out in buffalo. They used to carry them.

I just called the army store in buffalo. Closest they had were 14 regular. Might be the same as the eBay ones above.

Maybe an inch of snow on the ice can see some wet spots not sure if its open water or just slush, the only open water for sure is directly North of Dutchmans the Ten day weather looks good today and Thursday are the only days not  dropping into the Teens  and come Saturday and past single digits, should make ice fairly quick but will be at least week before shes ready imo

Check out some of the customs done by lakeshore outfitters up on Lewis point.  Def seem to outfish the factory rapala colors.  He has them in a size 5 and also some real big ones size 9 I think.

Waiting for good ice 0n Oneida.  I'm told there is decent ice on Saratoga Lake and most of Sacandaga.  Please let us know when ice is good on Oneida.

Yes, I agree. Please let us know. It’s been a few years since I’ve fished Oneida.

Yes can you please let me know when there is ice.
I don’t feel like driving out there to look.
Could you also include where to park and GPS locations.
Thank you in advance......   @).    ;)

Please include homeowners information for parking. If you have room in your shanty for me to sit and if you are willing to drag my gear out to the desired location of my choice free of charge. I’ll also need it dragged back. Please let us know when there’s safe ice. LOL!

If you sit around all day and do nothing your a bum, but if you sit in a boat all day or in a shanty and do nothing they call you a fisherman

If your looking for someone on this site to tell you when the first safe ice is your not going to get it. Iv only been fishing Oneida for 8 years but iv learned something. Until the entire lake is safe they won't come on here and tell you where it's safe. It's as much for your own good as it is for them keeping the little bit that is safe less crowded imo. The last 3 years I come on here and see its not safe, bring a boat, blah blah blah. But then look at web cams and see people fishing. So iv learned to take the little bit of info you see, look at the web cams and then risk driving the 2.5 hours it is for me to find out. Iv.never driven out and had to turn around. Just gotta look.

I'll just leave a bucket by my door. Please leave 3 eyes and a few perch in it.

I got at least 3" of snow last night about 1 mile north of the lake. That obviously won't help us.

Sooooooo,  I would have to drill my own holes then ?????

I’m in out I would rather use someone’s else’s drill on my clam plate.

And I assume this is also catered?

Hoping that wind keeps up to blow that snow off. Can’t insulate it or we’re screwed.
