New to the VT Ice Scene...
« on: Nov 29, 2013, 07:46 PM »
Hi all,

After being a long-time resident of the NY boards and a 2 year hiatus from ice fishing altogether, I am looking to get back into ice fishing again this year.

I am a graduate student at UVM and live in Burlington. I am just getting familiar with the areas fishing, and have no idea where to go in the winter. I usually fish for perch, pike, and trout.

Presumably a lot of people fish the bays of Champlain? What about Colchester Pond, Shelburne Pond, etc?

Don't mean to pry - just starting all over again!

I hope to see some of you out and about this winter!

Tight lines,

Wes

Any of the bays in LC will be good for pike and perch.  Colchester pond has some fun fishing at times for small pike, but it way over fished.  I haven't fished Shelburne Pond in a while, but it has had numerous die offs in recent years and may need a while to come back.  All of Grand Isle has good spots as well, just check at one of the local bait shops.  They'll steer you to the right place.
