I fished Black this weekend. The bite was slow but still managed a nice bass and some decent perch. Lots of small ones though. The ice is good in the Bays and on most of the lake. 10+ in some spots and it has been cold at night up there so it will only get better. Some people were having better luck than me though so I say give it a shot. It is beautiful up there besides i will e going back soon.

I'm headed to Black Lake on Thursday.  First time there on the ice.  I heard Rollaway Bay is good black to access it.  Any other suggestions?

Well, I went to Black Lake on Thursday, but I decided not to fish there.  I drove around that place for a long time, and it seems like there's about 1000 different bays, points, inlets, and outlets.  talked to a few people, but they said things were slow.  (probably not sharing the good info)  everyone talks about Mile Arm Bay, but I read somewhere that there are only two access roads and they are both private.  I really didn't have a clue where to try, so I shot over to Goose Bay.  nothing much happening as far as perch, but I landed 3 pike between 25" and 29".  there was about 10 1/2" of ice, but the top 3" was soft.  I'll check out Black Lake when there's more ice, and on the weekend when there are more fishermen around.
