Has anyone used these? I bought one the other day and it looks great. Does anyone what they work for or how to use them ??????????

OH yeah . I forgot to ask if anyone has checked out the new st.croix ice rods. my bait shop hasn't got them in yet but he said they are around 40 bucks canadian with a diawa reel on it.
Any info about the rod or the spoon is greatly appreciated.

Yes they do work. Just jig them like you would a Swedish Pimple. What they work for depends on the size of the spoon. I use them for panfish to pike.

The mepps jigs get tangled way too much. But thats easy to fix. Put a piece of shrink tubing over part of the hook and the metal wire that the blade is on (make sure the blade can still spin) Then it won't tangle like it does with the loose hook.

I love using mepps syclops. They work great for pike and trout. pull up quick then drop them so they flutter down. it drives the fish nuts. It is true that they tangle easy, as do other spoons. tipping the hook with bait can help prevent that and helps bring more fish in.

Oh you were talking about the mepps spoon. Sorry I was thinking about their jig heads with spinner blades on them.

Zach,
That lure is called a "Spinflex". I have a couple dozen of them.

I only ice fish for walleye or panfish and I've never caught anything on a Cyclops. I've tried quite a few times as I love the way they fall. Just haven't had the patience I guess.
