The fishing has been hot at Half Moon from 25 to 100 feet.  There is 18-20 inches of ice.  We fished Fremont for about 1 hour Saturday because the weather was getting bad.  No fish but there was 8" of good blue ice on the outlet side.

Freemont is a hard lake to fish until you learn it.  I have not learned it yet but still trying.  Some of the old anglers say out from the north east campground and boat ramp is some of the best and I have seen people fishing there.  I am planning to fish there more this winter so maybe I can be better help later on.  Be careful out in the middle and check the ice periodically for thickness, especially if you are riding snow machines.  Three weeks ago today there was still open water out there.  Where we were with the 8" has been frozen over for 2-3 weeks longer.  I may try it Friday and I will let you know what I find.

Hye BD, my bro and I are gonna do a boysen/jackson trip for 5 days starting april12th. We'll be self-contained so we can jet around and camp anywhere. Is there a way to get to the inlet of Jackson lake? I'm thinkin if jackson lake is still froze solid,There's always a nice opening at the inlet.

Oh yeah,The first spot to fish will be below the dam.Love those tailwaters. I'll have the auger and ice gear also. I'm a big believer in inlets during the ice-covered period. If the ice is melted enough to allow access to 15-20 feet of water, the fishing can be phenominal! It appears that the highway runs right along the inlet area also. I can't wait.

I'll second what everyone else has told you about fishing below the dam . On the south side is a big hole ,and it is deep . I was throwing 1/4 oz. jigs and let it sink in the eddie and counting to 40 before I started jigging it . Lots of fun but those Macs sure cut up my thumb from lip gripping . My money is on it will be iced by then and sometimes till mothers day . I need to get back up to Wyoming to fish more .

Fishslayer:  You were asking BD about the inlet of Jackson. I've fished it a few times in late winter and have caught some nice Brownies and Cuts many over 20 in. You would have to read the regs on Teton Park about what kinds of bait you can use. Big gold spinners worked for me.

Thanx-I'll have me a copy of the regs in my back pocket! I cant wait to fish there with that view of the tetons in my face! My wife and I drove by Jackson Lake on the way to Yellowstone and stopped on a turnout along that hwy and I said I could sit in my boat looking at that vista ALL day long. Yeah,I like metal in the spring, those hungry fish hammer 'em pretty good. One of my best lures is a Thomas Bouyant in Gold-1/6 oz.Yeah,baby.

Heading to Halfmoon this Sunday .  Wondering how it has been lately. I fished it once last year and caught one Rainbow. I dont really know the lake at all but it looks like it has good potential. Some insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hey BD I went up to Jackson today, the fishing was kinda like the weather down on the south end COLD!!! It was 24 below when we left town this morning. The Ice hardened up nice on top so you dont need your waders  anymore. We caught 9 fish in the 5 hours we were out there but nothing big. Hope you had a better day then we did.  Heading to Halfmoon tomorrow after 10 if you want to go.
