I was out at Hattie on monday...ice is good to go, anywhere from 6-8 inches everywhere I punched.
I release all trout...cause they taste that bad.

Appreciate it.  I'll be out there saturday or sunday though...a little break from the library...I'd try shallow, 6' or less.  Shallow is better this early...usually.

Hit the plains lakes with Crazy4ice today. Never found a constant bite but we had a few here and there.Nothing under 14". Bite slowed down when the pressure changed and the wind got NASTY.

BTW, Had a good day and met a cool guy... Oh Crazy4ice let me know about the hut, I hope it is ok....

Fished Hattie this afternoon. No fish.  Lost a bucket to the wind when we cot blasted by a 40-50 mph gust.  Ha.  THat lake is fun.  Must have been 10" of ice though.  Talked to one guy with a 25" rainbow, but that was his only fish all day.

Ya we were going to head there due to the higher chance of bigger fish but man that wind was brutal even at the smaller lake. I imagine it was just insane out on Hatti...

First off congrates on the rainbow. 2nd Im not sure where all the perch went i was hoping to find them again this year since the water is alot higher than it has been so they should have some of there old spawning ground back. I think there is still some in there just really hard to find them guna take a few ppl with the vexilars and drilling alot of holes, im ready to find them if you wana try im also from cheyenne and probably guna go up there weds or thurs with a buddy.

I think i have seen you fishing at absaraka i drive a yukon xl puder color with a vex and arsenal soccer sticker on the back window feel free to say hi if you see me.

Will be heading out to Hattie in the next few days.  Hopefully I'll find some perch.  Seems to me like the limit should be 15-20 on perch at hattie.  With hattie being such a small lake I don't think the perch population can handle drought and over harvesting.  Maybe one or the other.  Not both.

Spent an hour and a half today at hattie, didn't even see a fish on my camera and the others guys I talked to were there longer than that and didn't have any bites either. There was 8.5 inches ice where I was.
Spent the same amount of time at Leazenby this afternoon and did see a couple, missed one. Ice was 10-13 inches thick depending on where you are.

Hit hattie today from about 2-3PM till about 8PM.   Ice was a good 8" where we fished.  (about 100 yards off shore).  Depth was 10-12'.

I've done extremely well fishing for trout at night, so figured I'd give it a shot.  Might go back tomorrow and try it again, we'll see.

Not a nibble.

Great fish!

My buddy and I fished Hattie from about 11:00AM till 12:00PM.  Notta. Zip.

Fished NW of the ramp by the dam.  Ice was 9", little less out in the middle.

I'm also interested in the depth and bait.  Anyone caught any perch this year?

I'd say you answered your own question.   ;)  I think the number of big 'bows in Hattie right now is a definite contributor to the reduced perch numbers.  10+ years ago when Hattie had a lot of big lakers, bows and browns, the perch were all but non-existent in that lake.  Over the past decade, as the lakers disappeared and the (big) trout numbers fell, the perch population exploded.  But with the pig rainbows in there these days, they've got to be hard on the juvenile perch.  I'm sure the perch are still there somewhere (probably deep) but I don't think they're going to be as prevelant as they were in years past.  Just my $.02.
Don't worry about me... I'm from Wyoming.

My son and I went ice fishing last Friday (18 Dec) and there was 9 to 10 inches of ice on Lake Hattie. Fishing was not so great, but no wind that day and had a good time. Son caught a nice Kokanee Salmon. Only one for the day. The weather has been cold enough at night that the ice is getting thicker. Good luck fishing. Might see ya this Friday.
