That is rad Trog! Our whole crew have put a lot of time, miles, and man power on that lake for keeper walleyes. Boondog having a jealous heart will just keep you in those 4 inchers. Good luck bud!

First post here. Trog's pics caused me to become a registered user just so that I could post something regarding him and his catches.

Hat is off to you Trog. When you're good you're good. I hit Glendo three times so far through the ice this season and poked more holes then can count on that lake, and while I caught a lot of fish, most went back down the hole to grow up since all I could catch were small fish. So rather than call your catch into question, your pics serve to remind me of what is swimming around in that lake and keep me motivated to keep going back. Am grateful to you for sharing.

One more quick question...how much open water is on Glendo? Enough to get a small boat on? Fished a patch of open water on Crystal Sunday in a small boat and caught ~ a dozen 12-14" rainbows in the 2 hrs I was there. I'd like to try the open pockets on Glendo as they start to open up and wondered how much open water is starting to show there.

Thanks man, welcome to the board. Its not just me. I got some great friends who share this strange passion of staring at a hole in the lake ice. They definitely helped with the search for the walleyes and cats. I just wish we found them sooner.

As of saturday there was no open water to speak of. The ice is still thick, but its pulling away from shore. We needed one hell of a good plank to get on the ice (HT2 Mario).

Trust me I'm watching. I want to hit up the inlets of a few bodies of water when it gets warmer. If I find them I will be posting on MFF

I bet we would all be surprised how many people read these forums from the back ground and do not register.  Hats off to you for registering.  I'd hope that if any more of you are watching things from behind the scenes you should register and start contributing as well.

We all benefit from doing so.  There are quite a few very experienced anglers on here and contributions can go a long ways.

Even if you post a report saying you caught diddly squat and got skunked, that is valuable information all the same.

Pooling info does help alot. The ice fishing traffic here isnt the same as, say, Minnesota. It helps focus your efforts. Glendo was new to me this year and it took work and asking questions (BuzzH knows. I bugged him plenty). Eventually the icefishing gods smiled on us and gave us some great trips. Also, move off the beaten path. I cut MANY holes out there looking for fish where no one else fished. Not many posts mentioned fishing shallow and thats where we found the eyes.

Bottom line is this. Do work son!

actually we fish glendo every sunday. We found we best luck this year with just a jig head and a minnow. Last year we had best luck with white swedish pimples and a minnow. Landed a 30 inch walley 2 weeks ago. Also caught a mess of nice cats and perch this year

You know I was going to try just a jig head and a minnow on saturday. That storm front made a lot of fish neutral to negative on our presentations. Before that when they showed up on the vex they were going to bite.

Nice work on the big eye. Picture?

Were the perch any size? I was always good for catching one or two 12 inchers but they always seemed to be by themselves. I never found the bigger ones in groups.

boone...how deep on perch and cats? Any general area of the lake...not asking for your spot just general direction.

Thanks

Also, I realize this is a Glendo thread but...anyone ever try Wheatland 1? Tried Wheatland 1 between Christmas and New Years. Marked lots of fish but nothing would commit. Also...anyone ever do any good on Hawk Springs through the ice? Same thing there. Lots of fish on the Vexilar but not many bites. Did see tons of dead shad in an under the ice there.

We actually caught our cats in anything from 12 feet to 30 feet. Caught  a 10 lb cat and my 30 wally out of a hole that was 30 feet deep. Pulled it up about 3 feet off the bottom. Caught them both on a pink and white jighead on a 36inch  ripcity pole. what a fight.   Caught about all of our perch in 30 to 45 fow.

Got in touch with a guy from Ice shanty who has a large collection of In-Fisherman mags.

There is an article they did on Glendo, Icing reservoir catfish that I've been wanting to read for awhile now.  Could never find it on the net, just mentions of it.

Anyhow this nice feller from IS is going to mail me the entire mag ;D  Saweet.

OK so this is the last time at glendo. I MEAN IT THIS TIME!!!!!

We had a few shenanigans getting out fishing. We needed planks to get on from shore AND get across ice heaves.

WOW did we get on the cats!!

Josh with the 11.5lber

Matt scored the biggest with this 13.5lber

Total of twelve cats iced. I kinda missed yanking those pigs up...

OH! Yeah, we did manage to scratch up a few walleyes.   ;D

They were hungry

First fish icefishing!!!

Matt wins MVP for biggest cat AND eye

He wrecks jigging shad raps

Ice photo

Well, we had a great run at Glendo this year and went out with a bang. We will do an end of ice fishing/beginning of open water fishing fish fry and post pics on MFF. Only 8 more months till next hardwater season!!!!
