Yum! It's been years since I had a meal of smelt.  White perch here tonight.

Smelt are the best!  That looks great, Fishy1!

Haha, after seeing that, I might have to head northeast and get out on the ice one more night and get myself some smelt!  I was ready to switch to open water, but my brief scouting trip today revealed more ice than I expected in my nearby spots.

I've been eating crappies at least once a day, recently.  Lately I've been scaling them and leaving the skin on the fillets.  They are so delicious that way!  That'll be dinner tonight.

Bad year. Had to eat a Reuben last night. Dried out corned beef and fermented cabbage.
Ice fishing is a social activity that may occasionally be interrupted by the catching of fish.

Tonight: Deep fried pike with one rogue perch tossed in and homemade slaw. Maybe some onion rings. We'll see how ambitious I am.

Update...

Hah! Pleasant surprise... Nice walleye instead of puny pike  ;D Now pan-fried with some crispy sage and hazelnuts. Mmmmm. No onion rings, slaw and fresh rye bread n butter works.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

Yes, I find them much tastier with the skin on.  It has a very nice texture, too-- especially when fried crispy.
