Dunkirk Harbor
« on: Feb 01, 2019, 11:08 PM »

Couldn't help but mention that this afternoon while in Dunkirk on business I drove out on the city pier and saw 1 lonely ice hut out on the ice off the boat launch. Ice was smooth from what I could see. The ice on the right side of the pier looked dangerously unsafe.

Most will remember last year when it looked like tent city out on the ice, with many good catches of Trout and some mixed pannies for the effort.. Maybe something to follow until the main lake is ok to fish. ???

It'll be interesting to see what the harbor attracts this year. After all, they did dredge the be-jeezus out of it this summer!
C'mon, share some info. I do.

I believe that the ice will be safer soon in the harbor. One good freeze after this thaw and bingo. Some nice Trout were taken very frequently last year, and your odds in the harbor of a mess of  eating size pan fish might surpass that of the  Buffalo Small boat harbo.r

Spoke to Miller @ sunset this w.e. I guess there was a contest there had to be run open water due to unsafe ice. If you guys have info on fishing here please PM, my bro lives in sunset and want to fish some water close to his home.
Some other small lakes in the area as well.

I drove by the harbor today on my way to bear lake. There was open water in spots. Guys were actually fishing off the pier today. It was a no go for me.
