NE Indiana ponds today
« on: Dec 23, 2010, 08:03 PM »
Fished a pond south of Forth Wayne this afternoon, first time on the ice this year.  7 inches of ice, 5 of which were good clear ice.  Late afternoon bite was good for gills and bass, one of the better bass days I've seen under hard water.  All in all hooked around ten bass in the couple hours we were out, mostly on tip ups.  Lots of fish around five or six feet of depth in eight feet of water.  Just before dark it turned off but pulled a couple gills right of the bottom.  Made a nice dinner for the family and my fishing buddy.

Looking forward to getting out Sunday and probably Tuesday.

Happy holidays to all

How big were the bass?  Did you take any pictures?

We got some pics. Dont know if he will post them. The smaller bass was 13 inches or so with the bigger being 15 probably. Both were healthy looking and provided some nice fillets. Most of the gills were pretty nice too with 8 inches or so being the average. Not really any bigger or much smaller...at least the ones we kept. The 2 bass were the only 2 we landed. Had a few come off at the hole.
