i have a question. i just picked up some 6 ft skies cheap for 15 bucks. is that to long to use on my sled. or should i make them shorter...bill
Hey Baitbucket-How did you determine the length of your AWESOME auger holder. I figure I can always curt it shorter easier than I can add to it. You should think about patenting your idea and selling them on eBay. I saw some mods on this site for a "cooking unit/tray" that attaches to a Mr. Heater. Guess where I saw basically the same thing being sold? You won't see me stealing your idea and trying to make money off of it, but someone else with no, scruples might try. You deserve the credit as well as any compensation involved. Sorry, I see something I think is wrong and I have to vent. Your idea will be saving me and a lot of other fisherman a lot of headaches. Just hope you benefit from sharing your idea, financially or otherwise.
I went out and fished this afternoon and let me tell you the auger holder is really slick. Hoping holes jigging I just left the holders in place, they weren't in the way. The one actually made a nice little arm rest for my jigging arm. (Maybe a comfy little arm rest pad that slips in the top?) Hmm, got battery to mount as well now. 3 teeny tiny perch this afternoon in the snow and wind.
The height is pretty much trial and error.Cut your notches, push the tube into the connector and screw it into the lid fastened to the tub.Place your auger on it and see how much clearance you have from the poles/pole bracket. Those are what will limit your height.I just kept cutting a little bit off at a time till my auger barely cleared the pole. You can actually have one shorter than the other as well. I leave them the same length so i dont have to worry about whats what tho.The shorter the better, its more stable. You can put them on your boxes too. I mounted one to mine:(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)There is about a 1/2in space between the rubber piece and the wood.(Image removed from quote.)Thanks again Mon!!!! That Ion is sweet looking also
Very nice job trikerjohn. It may help me come up with something for my ATV. I am a big fan of pvc pipe to fix any building job. There sort of like tinker toy parts.
