Have you ever tried (I believe the name is right) Johnson Res. off of highway 34, around Sybeil Canyon. Suppost to have Brookies and bows.

try to find some beaver ponds on public lands or Private.
I know over here on the National Forests the beaver ponds have the best tastings brookies this side of the Mississippi. I have good luck fishing them through the ice, they will hit anything. Generally you have your limit in under 30 minutes. I have caught, in the past, brookies over 15 inches, my biggest was 18.5 inches. I even like to go to some of the ranches and ask for permission and fish for German Browns where the water is not frozen this time of year, with spinning tackle.

The biggest bow I every caught out of Crystal reservoir was 6.75 lbs. It was around 25 inches long, and it was a while back around March 1993. Back then through the ice it only took 45 minutes and you had your limit of bows. Mostly averaging in the 14 inch range.

Only fished that place once in my float tube but I instantly liked that lake. Caught a ton of perch also but they were all small.
