Anyone use the Salmo Chubby Darters with any success? I am thinking about a few but at $7 a pop I don't want to buy junk.

Jumbo perch like them too. Unfortunatelly, so did a couple of pike. Say goodbye.

Yep, I bought 2 last year, with some walleye success.
They have some new glow colors this year.

I tried them in my bathtub and the action is pretty good. Bought the perch, gold and silver ones. Can't wait to try them out.

I need someone to show me how to use these lures effectively, I haven't had a walleye hit one yet!  But there are a ton of guys that swear by them, so I think its my presentation is crap.
Let there be ice.

Halis for perch, chubbies for 'eyes. And yes, the pike like them too.

They are a real good bait for eyes.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an  well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, A fishing pole in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming \"WOO HOO, what a ride!

I really like the salmo chubby darters as do the dang pike when I'm after walleyes . ;) It get's pricey at 13 bucks a pop here and pike biting you off . Not only that but they are a bit difficult to find in my neck of the woods so if I see them I buy them . Just happened to see a glow model the other day in a tackle shop but now she calls my tackle box home . ;) The chubby darter works well in open water and man does she sail through the air a long distance to cover more water in a single cast, especially deep water . ;)

Slipbob, have you gotten any of the luminous grey dace?  I found a couple this summer and they look like winners also.

Wow.  The coveted LGD.  Those I have not seen.  I don't even recall them on Salmo's website ???  Where did you get those Bean?
I picked them up from an outfitter when I went to canada this past summer. But, I've found them online and that's where that picture came from.  Click here to see and go down to about the 8th product. Don't know if US residents can order from there.
I contacted Salmo USA and they aren't available here in the US. They did tell me there is a new color for this year that they will receive in about a week. It's a YMD which is Yellow Metallic Dace.

Slipbob, I e-mailed that company and they said they would ship to the U.S.    I don't know what the total cost would be to get a few, but e-mail them and they should be able to tell you.

How do you guys fish chubby darters? Do you fish with a lift falls stop type of jigging action? What type of action do they exhibit in the water on the lift and drop, and do they contain rattles? Would the #6's be too large for jumbo perch? I bet pike like them to.
They look like great lures, I will have to see if I can find some this winter. :)
