I was wondering what others may have left behind on the ice following fishing. I recently left my lazer hand auger at Long Point on Chatauqua Lake (Tuesday, 3/6).  Was hoping fellow IS member may have found it- possibly would have got it back. Otherwise - hope that each hole the finder drills is followed by a blister!

I learned something the hard/easy way a long time ago. If you have your current name and address and 'phone number on a small tag somewhere on each item you will often get a 'phone call from someone. If the finding party has friends with them at the time of the find they'll want to do the right thing, and it has happened, both to me and for me, with items ranging from $1,000. camera's to tackle boxes and stuff. My tags read: For Reward please call collect...,Chainsaw 518 234-etc.

If you don't provide the finder with a way to contact you to return your lost stuff the worst you should wish them is well and good luck. May the fishing Gods smile on you and your auger found or replaced.

We pulled off the ice on Sacandaga last year and Seans 15 year old, 'Never look behind Son', Rusty had to go back for a whole trail of stuff that fell off his sled. His camera and cell phone were into the slush by then and had to be replaced. Stuff does things like that.
All folks follow Chainsaws first law of diminishing enthusiasm, "Ya just hafta want to do some things more than others."

Other than my son leaving a pair of boots at the boat launch last year, I just leave holes behind. I do hope you find your Auger so you can leave them too!

A tip-up, still rigged.  Nasty snowstorm 2 seasons ago (the one on playoff weekend that shut down the mid-Atlantic coast).  We packed up in a hurry, and missed it.  Never even realized we'd forgotten it until 2 weeks later, when we found it by pure chance, and spudded it out.  Something had hit it too- about 50 yards of line was out.

My sled overturned in the darkness as I was leaving a pond. Dumped all my shiners and when I got home realized my jigging rod and digital scale were missing. If found by a fellow member it was a south pond in Millis Mass. I know carry a headlamp for the exit out in the dark. Another idea is to use a permanent marker to mark everything with a cell number.

Two weeks ago leaving Canadice lake lake in the dark, lost "keeper" deluxe seat, including 5 rod/reel combos & a camera. Learned a good lesson, now i put my name on everything. It wasn't as bad as the time I lost a brand new trolling motor off the transom of my boat ( my pregnant wife was with me!) Did not go over well!

I'm surprised no one else has brought it up yet, and I'm sure you will all agree to some extent. I have left my sanity on the ice. Some days them fish make me go absolutly NUTS!! I ususally fish alone so then I begin talkin/yelling at the fish and yeah, it can get pretty nasty ;). I'm sure even in 21 FOW they can hear me down there.
The fishing is always great, the catching however, always isn't

This year...my marbles!!

Well it must be your marbles that I keep finding.  I go fishing to replace the marbles I lose when I'm not on the ice.
