I made a quick trip tonight after work. The ice stiffened up good at sunset.

You did way better than I did today. I sat on watchers all day and ended up with 4 perch and 2 short ‘eyes. Really had to work for the few hits I got.
I prefer a 2oz sinker for perch...when it hits 'em they won't feel a thing

Thanks guys. It was beautiful out there.

Down to 28 at my house right now. Hopefully we don't get much rain so the water doesn't come up much around the edges.

Looks like the secret key to catching some keeper walleyes is to change your Iceshanty forum name to something that ends with "eyz" or "Eyez".

Or fish in the afternoon from around 3 - dark. Ive noticed most of the good reports/pictures are from the afternoon bite. Tried it myself once earlier this season and caught my limit in 30 min right at sunset.

I only made it up twice. Both times in the last week and a half. Only 1 keeper to show for it but my biggest fish were around noon. Early and late were all baby eyes. Good thing I found ok Perch fishing.

As always I post good or bad , and yesterday we found perch but they were tight lipped again, 2 buds 4 miles down lake landed on an active school and landed 98
 Nice yellows 👍

Got out yesterday from 5-6 after changing out both wheel bearings in the truck. Had a bunch of chasers but no takers. Saw some sketchy spots out there on my way out and back in. It was my last trip with the sled. I’ll be on foot from here on out

I was out last night and the top couple of inches were soft. I got on and off okay with the sled. The rain stayed away this morning but it is warm.

I have to imagine the water will start coming up some making a few spots tough to get on but most access should be okay I would think.

As fillet mentioned it’s a good time to dust off the spud.

Spud shouldn’t have dust on it until it’s time to put it away for the season

I was thinking dusting off the spud meaning it’s been in the garage since first ice, apologies for the miscommunication.

I still spud throughout the season. Especially new waters. The potential benefits out weigh the additional time it takes me to get from point A to point B

When I am zipping from the shore to a known destination on my sled, the spud stays in my truck. If I am walking (normally early and late ice), I always have my spud.
