Only about 3 weeks of ice last year, I had the Flu on the first week of ice we had in January and missed it, but when we got the ice in February I did an 12 day straight marathon. heres some pictures from my birthday weekend, first time since 2011 that the perch were so big and so plentiful that's buckets were useless just threw them in a spare jet sled, some big perch over 13 inches and some big limit days of 10-13inchers.  If anyones got pics from the last couple ice seasons on Oneida, post em up.

And that is why I make the two hour drive even though I can fill a bucket with some nice perch closer to home.  And speaking of the finger lakes, who's gonna be the first one to call for Keuka to freeze over to get to some laker water this year?  I'm saying we will be on the ice there by Feb. 15!

Hey Shane what are you seeing in the command center about our long term forecast for this winter...are we gonna get another mid winter warm spell to ruin our good ice?

Its a start nykonsdream, but you know me I wait for Oneida too freeze, only place I like too ice fish, unless we get lucky and a finger lake freezes this yr.
It’s never been about the fish but for the memories my father gave me and what I shall pass down to mine  :)

Man was the lake ripping today!! Big waves out there. Watched a giant sheet of ice blow down to Bernhards Bay from constantia and a lot of it piled up on the north shore. Should be a nice clean sheet when this wind stops and the temps drop this week. Might be some rough spots in close where some of the ice piled up today. Merry Christmas everyone

Here's hoping the snow stops before we start getting ice.  Forecast looks great so far.

I live south of Dunham Island and looks like it's locked up near me. With these cold temps I bet some parts will be ready to fish for New Yrs eve, might be brutally chilly though. Let's just hope the lake effect doesnt bury the lake.  ::)

Does anyone know if App's bait and tackle is planning to be open this winter?  I hope so.  Really like giving them my business plus they always have good bait.

Now the Bernards Bay camera is starting to look real good sun shining and 14 degrees parts that where open earlier today are now froze over hope it starts to crank and the snow stays away

Lol I guess so!! You guys got hammered with snow. Nothing here snow wise since Christmas morning. Just bitter cold with high winds. A lot more of the lake locked up as others have mentioned. The open water area in front of constantia has shrunk but some pretty nice rollers when I drove by an hour ago. Man is it cold out there

Went through sylvan beach on the way home from work today about 4 PM.  One lone shanty out about 100 yards off the parking lot.

Are you sure it didn't blow down there from the west end of the lake?

Looked like one hardy soul standing  outside of the shanty. Jigging or taking a leak. Didn't really feel the need to find out

Thanks for the heads up, appreciate it, ...I kind of saw that coming, I checked that ice 5 days ago......won't be long now could be a good lock up, not much snow in forecast next 10 days, 8 nights in arow below zero coming, haven't done that since February of 2015 ....we'll be running machines quick if it stays snowfree.
