Good to see safe Ice and people catching fishing near where I rented a cabin.

Just a heads up for anyone out on the lake, there’s a pressure ridge along the end Sinclair point over to fish house, with a lot of open spots.

A snowmobile went through the ice up by Edinburgh last night.  The operator made it out ok.  Be careful out there.

Anyone know why the gate at the Northampton Campground isn’t open? In years past you use to be able to park down in the big parking lot near the boat launch.

Can anyone provide me with some info on access in the north broadalbin area? I looked on maps and see that county route 110 runs along the lake in this area. I usually fish alone but sometimes my brother joins so i just need a place for one vehicle. Thanks.

Broadalbin has a state boat launch that you could access the lake/ice from there. A little of a drag but to the ice. Check the other posts here and you can gauge the thickness. Hope this helps and Good Luck!!!!!

Does the sacandaga boating club on Merriam road in broadalbin tolerate ice fisherman parking in that cul de sac area? I’m looking to fish out near scout island if i can access in that area.

Don’t know but whenever I look to access from a new spot I pick up the phone and call. They may not answer because it’s the off-season but worth a shot.

I tried calling and emailing a few places in that area a few years ago. From what I understood that spot was members only. A few other places never got back to me. Northampton has been the only place somewhat producing for me so I gave up on the south end

If you have a machine there’s always the public boat launch in broadalbin. It’s a hike by foot though. Drag wasn’t too bad on the south end of the lake Sunday but that’s a distance not meant for this guy’s body

Agreed. That’s roughly a mile to scout much shorter than broadalbin.

Thanks for the info everyone. I know they call it the Dead Sea for a reason but you can’t learn it if you don’t try.

Well I took another trip over Northville Bridge today around 3:00pm ish. Saw 1 shanty about 3/4 mile down the East looking South of the bridge. It's only Tuesday so I'll leave it at that.......... :icefish:

Managed a few yesterday. Caught on more short and lost another keeper at the hole. I did better with the pole than tipups, caught 2 of the keepers and one short jigging.

There are a couple pressure ridges, with the one by the point being the worst. As far as ice thickness I’m sure it’s fine,we had 7-8 all through there last weekend

I stumbled across this thread and figured I’d give it a shot. Me and my friends are planning a trip to GSL next Jan ( baby coming in 2 weeks blew up my ice fishing plans). We’re looking at renting a place on Sinclair rd I believe. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Mostly if that area is worth fishing or would we have to move north or south. Thanks

Is going to be a long year under these present circumstances. Right now iffy ice where you want to go. The Walleye Challenge has been cancelled 2 years in a row which is held around this time. Best bet would be start checking things out next Nov. Sorry for the report but it is what it is....... Hope the baby is healthy and you can be here next year.....

Moose66,I actually live on Sinclair road, there are definitely some decent spots along the point, just gotta find the little pieces of structure or rock bottom. Best bet is to look undeveloped shoreline, usually the stone continues down into the water and is pretty good at dawn and dusk. I’ve got 7-8 inches all the way down to the tip of the point,my shanty is down there.

X2 what Goose says. Now that I know where he lives, I am going to have to be more careful where I fish in the Summer or put Camo on the boat....h2l
