Heading out to visit family next weekend in madison county and want to do some ice fishing while out there. How is the walleye fishing in tuscarora? It's the closest body of water to where i'll be. Whats the lake like? weedy or clear/stained? thanks.

Honestly the lake is pretty tough. Have fished Madison my whole life and if you want good sized walleye, perch and crappie I would go to cazenovia lake. Just Down the road a bit. Haven’t been out yet as I am out of town for awhile but heard guys are doing really well there.

I always see guys on the South end by Rt 20 but have never gone out there, might have to give it a try. Is there a better spot for Eyes on Caz?

Don't waste ur time at Caz for eyes....yes their in there and big ....but far and few between....Go to Oneida for eyes ....another 20 minute drive

Some park off Erieville Rd by the dam. On Funk Rd across the res. some other spots down from the Canoe too. But the Canoe is the best place for a cold one and some good eats after.

Perch are on and off. If you want numbers and size better off at Oneida. U are going to catch smallmouth one after another at Tusc.

Do you know if we can park a truck and trailer at the blue canoe? We're planning on fishing the derby Saturday, was gonna bring wheels if parking allows for it? Thanks

flukeman has a great description for parking on tourney day on the "small waters/Madison" conditions page. Trucks with trailers should park on the road, not blocking driveways etc....

I can give you the numbers from what I remember;

260 participants
All fished measured nose to V in the tail:
Walleye 18 3/8
Perch 12 3/8 adult, 11 3/4 youth
Longest other - pickerel 20 1/4
Longest chain of pickerel 98" and change

Everyone who caught a fish was allowed to register a "Lucky Fish" can't remember what that drawing paid.
Adult divisions I believe paid out $200 each category, youth paid $100
Large prizes where a giant Smart TV, Ion Ice Auger,, several tree-stands, and many smaller items.
All other proceeds are going to walleye stocking.

I can't say for sure. While I was standing there I saw the board change twice I think. So that would be five for sure. But I also saw some guys who did not measure because their fish could not overtake the winner.

Plus there was also a weigh catagory. The electronic display only showed top 3 in each catagory.
