55 degrees in Rochester!!!
« on: Jan 20, 2006, 02:06 PM »
WHAT THE !@#$  this is january...well almost february. I am really starting to get worried here. Any of the old timers remember a season without any fishable ice?  I wish the weather would make up its mind, cold or warm.
I am driving around with a jet sled in my car and I am thinking about trying to paddle out in it and fish...I could use the auger for an anchor.

-55 in rochester and not happy

Well, it's 40 here on Chaumont Bay as I type this and I think that temp sucks, and it's way lower than anyone else is reporting so far...low tonight here, 34 degrees...not gonna make ice that way......

I DID FISH FROM SHORE TODAY ON A LOCAL LAKE JUST TO GET THE FEELING AGAIN.I LOVE TO ICE FISH BUT AT LEAST WE ARE GETTING CLOSER TO SPRING AND IM NOT BURNING SO MUCH WOOD. TAKE THE GOOD WITH THE BAD.

I recorded 52 near Plattsburgh on the Ny -Vt border about 20 miles from Canada.  I am 56 and do not recall any winter that had such almost consistent above average temperatures

I thought about 4 years ago was about the same.  I remember Conesus freezing completely over for a day and a half (a friend of mine lived on the lake), and Silver had safe conditions for about two weeks or so.

Fortunately I got on Silver this year as much as I did, about 8 or 9 times.  We'll have more, but the next week or two don't look so hot.

I wonder how this warm winter will affect the maple run this spring??

I wonder this too as I am a hobbyist maple producer. I don't know guys it's 4:30 am in the morning here in CNY and we are sitting at 50 degree's. I did here the it will turn cold today.

The only good thing about this weather is a couple more warm days and I will have my boat ready for spring.  I really wish the ice would hurry up and come back.
