Perch are perch lol. We all know what a limit of 9-12"ers looks like.

I used to put them up and then I realized after a few trips the photos always look the same.

But if it makes you happy here is a pic my buddy took of the 27 by mid day. We never took a pic of the 50 by nightfall.

About a half hour before Scott took that video I had a laker take a nice keeper perch off my hook just under the ice. On the very next drop I hooked a dink perch and about 5' under the ice another laker showed up on the flasher and hit the perch just before I pulled it through the hole. I've noticed quite a few lakers follow perch up this year...always get a kick out of it. Perch bite was really good this weekend, quick limit of quality fish on Sunday.

Funny you should ask. Boon Bay has been on my mind since last year. I went over there once and don't think I did to good. I was told the only way to get there is to access off of Cotton Point Rd. into Basin Bay and walk from there. I had the quad as I believe it is quite a haul. Might see you there this weekend. ;) ;)

Boon bay can only be accessed from the lake, an old friend owns the motel there, and she stated the bubblers are all around the shore, or she would let me on.  The problem, is Boon is one of the bays they laid the benthic mats down on last year, killing off most if not all the weeds and bugs under the mud...Have not tried it this year, last year the dead zone, no food there...Barebow

I have a question and I have Been thinking about it all winter....

How come you never hear or see anything about big northerns being caught in lg? I mean look at sacandaga. Every winter guys pull monsters out of there. How come we don't hear or see 25-30lbers + out of lg. Is it because their patterns are different and they just don't get caught or is there such a low number of them in the lake? The feed is there for them including the protein the lakers supply for massive growth.

o2rmk I have to agree. And SS think about it. 98% of the people go for perch and trout. Like you said Sagandaga is where ya hear of big pike being caught.

I have heard of a few caught while after the slimers.

My friend got a nice one (33 inches not a 20 lber) 50' down in 80' of water and i have heard of similar stories.

We got one on a tipup that went 30 inches.

I agree that not too many people fish for them.

Since the laker bite in deep water has been dead lately i have been toying with the idea of jigging some dink perch and putting them out on a tipup and figure that could result in laker or pike.
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,

I was just having this conversation with a buddy.. I suppose no one wants to go too close to shore..  majority of the pike I catch are right off the docks.

I've been saying on this forum for years that Lake George has a great population of pike.   big ones too.  I know there's a certain member on here that has gotten them to 20lbs on Lake George (ahem AirmanCam).

Perch bites been on fire. Lots of dinks mixed with some pretty decent ones. The temps next week should fire the lake trout bite back up.

I understand what you guys are saying...but still my question isn't answered. Im talking 25lbers+. The big girls that run 45-50"ers.

You would think EVENTUALLY someone would mistakenly catch one and we would hear about it...but nothing.

even the open water guys that are out there trolling for big lakers with big inline spinners and stuff.....you never hear about any of them catching any either.

Went back and read ad probrably 20 pages of posts...was jw if anyone could give me a rough idea of an access area on the southern end of the lake that wed have a good chance of actually finding parking sunday..fished otsego all winter but thats getting old.  Went through my maps..didnt know how mdb would be parking on the weekend?or if vets would be worth the try(we fish for lakers,no atvs to use). If worst comes to worst we might try pilots knob, just a further drive for us..any p.m. would be appreciated,I try not to be the guy asking repeated questions on here and wouldnt if it wasnt such a far drive. Thanks alot.
