man, the lakers did not want to hit anything today. I was on the ice at PK by 6:30 and got off at 4pm. Early morning I had one chaser, and he never hit it. Stayed in 120ft of water. I have just about had it fishing for lakers.

I am hoping to try this weekend and try my new Marcum LX-7. No idea how it works, and never went for Lakers. Who knows how it will turn out!!

same here. I use a Garmin echo 200. It shows my jig, fish and chasers, but its not a vex, and being as ice fishing is just something to do for me to get to the next open water season, I can't bring myself to spend the money needed to get a Vex....

I'll help you figure it out. Just let me borrow it for a couple weeks.  ;)

Fish are moving around a lot.  Find schools of smelt in 60-70 feet of water and you will find the lakers.  I foul hooked a bunch of smelt today jigging a buckshot lure aggressively from bottom up to 40 feet and a few lakers ;D  You have to be willing to move around despite the snow cover.

Lol remember last season how's many guys argued that, the golden Laker wasn't that rare....and was actually common.  I would still consider a replica mount. You have the pics for color matching...

15' down coulda been a laker or even a pike, have caught many lakers just under the ice and on rare occasion people get pike under the ice over deep water
[/quotxe]
Maybe a pike I guess never heard of them up high in deeper water but I guess, just didn't act like a trout to me the way it took off right after the strike.

A buddy of mine caught a 20lb pike on a salmon set (tip-up) on Lake George last year.  30 fow, 2 feet below the ice.

IcemanADK, I'll bring the sonar if you show me the best possible spots you know of to fish Lakers and guarantee that I'll catch at least 3 or 4. Deal?

Its great. I bought it because its just a cheaper setup dedicated  to ice fishing so im not fishing 100% blind. It gets the job done enough.
