We finally got on some safe Ice and even managed to Catch A few fish..


My first Fish Of the Year.


ColdBum's First fish of the year..


Fishing was a little slow, But the Crappies started biting eventually..








The ones we decided to keep for the frying Pan

Caroga's only got about an inch on it.. We fished out in the shallows but couldn't buy a bite. The splake gotta start runnin sooner or later though.. Maybe this week sometime, when the ice get's a little thicker..

Caught My first tip-up fish of the season.. Turned out to be a personel best splake.. :)






I really wanted to get it mounted but Money's tight with christmas just around the corner.. :-\... So I turned it into a nice meal... 8)

Nice fish CK! Seems you need a bigger pan, thats a good problem to have  ;)  How deep did that feller take the bait? I am after trout this weekend.

SLIP- some splake are more laker and others more brookie, especially when they occur naturally, diet too affects the meat. Red and I had a big discussion about splake this summer and I learned quite a bit  :)

We were fishing in about 45 ft of water.. The line was set with a small icicle, 12-15 ft below the ice.
