Everyone get there Jackfish derby tickets for Feb 19.
should be warm and hopefully more fish pulled out.

Phone on Monday and go my early bird, recieved it today in the mail. I am number 560. I will be out there with my ice shanty flag and gear so if you see if come over for a cold one!

Went to years ago and caught 2 fish (one jack and one burbot) got 38th place which was a life vest. It was a good time, cold but well organized and fun! See ya out there.

I was two holes away from you when you caught them two. To the north by them guys with the auto set and alarm set fishing system they had set up.

Beats the hell out the Regina Beach derby they had

Prizes got worse every year, now i agree with the drunk guy at the last one that went up stage

I think eyecatcher and I will be attending with a few friends. Ive got a big white sled that im going to decal up and I'll try and put an ice shanty sticker on it, if you see it come say hello.

Just getting my gear ready now, new hooks, bait and other toys, excited as hell. I will also have the ice shanty flag flying so pop by and say hello. I plan on leaving Stoon around 3:00 am, its going to be a cold one sitting in line but as long as the wind stays down we should be good!

I'm planning on heading over to Murray after the derby. Anyone have any advice as to where to go (looking for Burbs)? I would assume that there are lots of shacks around Lanz Point, Pelican Point and Sleepy Hollow.

Can't wait to hear about the derby. I am an NBfordian who has moved away long ago

....miss the closeness of the lake. Still have a family cabin there though. Usually had great luck ice fishing there with whities, burbs and Pike. Have fun All!!!

Nope. 2.9 was the last place price fish. Last year it would have lol. There was a steady 3 pound fish range this year. I seen a guy lose a 100 000 dollar pike down the hole. had it up and it cut his Line and back down it went. his arm nedless to say was all the way Down the hole after it.

Damn thats a crapty drive. Long cold day but still an enjoyable one. Eyecatcher iced a 2.2 pound pike and I got a 3.3 pound pike good enough for 28th place, lost another nice one on the tipup as well so that was kind of frustrating. I'll be back out again next year, cheers.

It was cold, -40C on the thermometer on the lake, and Environment Canada said -38C in NB at 6:00 am, at least not much wind and when the sun came out it was nice. I was in the SE part of the grid, got an outside hole that was 12 feet deep with good weeds on the bottom but nothing. Our area was quiet for fish, very little happening except for the drunks falling over because too much whiskey. Some got escorted off the ice by security but they were fine. I have never fished outside in such crazy conditions, the holes would freeze in 10 seconds after you cleaned it and your line would be covered in ice istantly also. Getting there at 5:00 am did not help as people who came at 9:00 caught fish in inside holes but it was a good experience, got home and crashed to bed at 6:00 pm and woke up this morning at 5:00 am. Met lots of friendly people but no ice shanty members, had the flag and patches on the jacket but nobody heard of the site, oh well, the Big River derby is comming up March 19th, see ya there. the poster for the derby is on the right side of the following page. http://www.bigriver.ca/

I could not see the flag I look for it. I was at the center devider line with the corner and side outside holes more less right when you get through the gate to the right. I was siprized that south side did not produce like it did last year. Bigger fish this year atleast. Were you one of the guys in the pop up tents they had in the line up. I had my sun flower heater goin all day. Getting there at 530 was not the best idea I think. I registerd my fish at 248. It would have been nice if they would have went around with augers re drilling for some people. There was some major freeze over. Chitik lake is having there derby this year on the 19th to I think I don't know what one to attend

I got to the lake at 4:45 am and was in line at 5:00, I did not have a pop up and stood out in the air. My little heater didn't work, the propane was comming out in liquid form and bubbling so I did not even try to turn the heater on, damm cold! Some guys were in line since midnight but they had popups and lots of booze!

Not a thing yet have not seen a poster either. Played hockey against one of the organizers and he said the 19th early bird ended on feb 1st I guess. if I find more this week I will post
